"Wayback" Product Description

Construction Cap
Sidecut 124/88/108 mm
Approx. Weight 1440 g (167 cm)
Turn Radius 20m (167 cm)
Recommended Use Ski Touring
The WayBack has a perfect sidecut for powder snow and is the picture of efficiency for long days in the backcountry. It's narrow and light enough to skin well on hard, technical snow, but sufficiently wide and solid enough to be a capable descender.
An ultra-light Paulownia/Aspen woodcore with carbon fiber reinforcement reduces overall weight for the ascent, making it one of the lightest skis on the market and an ideal choice for lightweight enthusiasts
The WayBack has an All-Terrain Rocker offers versatility and ease in all snow conditions. Featuring an elevated tip for variable and soft snow performance, as well as camber underfoot for power, energy, and edge-hold in firmer conditions.
The perfect choice for ski tourers looking for a versatile ski with good descent performance and high floatability

    Features:
  • Field of use: 50% Powder, 50% variable
  • Wood core: K2 uses a Paulownia/Aspen wood cores for energy, rebound, and a liveliness only found in wood core skis.
  • Torsion Box construction is the foundation for the widest range of skis designed by K2. Depending on the dimensions of a ski, and the amount of flex and torsion designed into it, one model of a Torsion Box ski can differ greatly from another. The versatility in the construction enables us to build everything from entry-level through expert skis. While there will be significant differences between skis, they do share the common traits of ease, forgiveness, responsiveness, and energy that can be found in all Torsion Box skis.
  • Powder Tip: designed to be more predictable in soft snow conditions, these tips are designed to strike the perfect balance of maximizing float while reducing tip deflection. These tips are designed with a gentle arc and transition into the sidecut of the ski.
  • Carbon Web: Enveloping the Mod structure with a carbon weave where the strands of carbon are laid at precise angles for an additional level of torsional rigidity on the secondary core. This keeps the ski light but gives you the additional torsional strength where you need it most.
  • All Terrain Rocker: an elevated tip for variable and soft snow performance, as well as camber underfoot for power, energy, and edge-hold in firmer conditions
  • Snophobic topsheet: Since snow collecting on the ski can add pounds to a climb, the SnoPhobic tops keep you light with a new snow-repellent topsheet. The running surface along the bottom of a ski is hydrophobic by design, so K2 has developed a thinner version of the same material to use on the BackSide model-specific topsheets.
  • Progressive sidecut: a combination of two different radii, or sidecuts, that enhance the versatility of wider-waist skis. Standard sidecut theory is based on using a single radius. This works well on narrower skis, but becomes overpowering on wider skis, especially in variable conditions. The use of progressive sidecut on wider-waist skis guarantees improved turn initiation and hard-snow performance.
  • Skin grommets: The new freeride tip and tail grommets are a clean, simple design that no longer requires a plug. The durable rubber coating disguises a slit designed to accommodate both the Z clip for K2 skin attachments, and the components to build a rescue sled.
  • Sidecut: 124/88/108 mm. Radius: 20m (167 cm).
  • Approx. Weight: 1440 g (167 cm).
