Video-test: Haglöfs Roc Helios 25

A minimalist climbing and mountaineering pack with back panel access

The Roc Helios 25 litre pack, by Haglöfs, is designed for fast-paced, done-in-a-day, modern mountaineering.

With a minimalist design the Roc Helios 25 is durable and comfortable for its low weight (at just 625 grams). The adjustment system and weight distribution is similar to that used for trail running packs. The Interact suspension distributes the load evenly on your back and allows you to move fast.

Features include two ice-axe holders, a rope holder, bungy cords for your poles or clothing, pockets, an emergency whistle and inner reinforcements make the pack firmer and more durable.

The pack is accessed via a zip in the back panel that opens fully, allowing greater visibility of your gear and unlike top access packs, means you don’t need to remove the gear at the top to reach the contents lower down.

This back panel access was first used for snowboarding packs because when a snowboard was attached to a pack with a front panel zip, the weight and bulk made opening the zip extremely difficult. By using this back panel zip system on the Haglöfs Roc Helios 25, the same problem is avoided when attaching your ice-axes, poles or a rope to the front panel. Extremely comfortable in use, it also allows direct access to the contents.

The Roc Helios 25 is perfect for modern mountaineering or for a day out hiking. By opting for this wide, easy opening system Haglöfs pushes the limits for greater performance in the mountains. Its low weight also allows it to form part of the L.I.M (Less Is More) range.

Minimalist, functional and versatile, Haglöfs have made the Roc Helios 25 to get your stuff to the mountaintop fast.
