The Oreus jacket is the result of a 5-year development project to make what we believe to be the best midweight synthetic product currently available. Limited by synthetic fills on the market, we set out to develop our own, weaving fibers through heat-reflective weaving technology. Now patent pending and exclusive to Mountain Equipment, the precision-engineered Aetherm™ insulation is warmer than anything of equivalent weight, as well as being more breathable and more packable.

The Oreus is already well proven with prototypes being used extensively everywhere from the Karakoram to Patagonia to the Alps, with rave reviews from our team of athletes, many of whom wear these products in place of lightweights due to their warmth, functionality and increased endurance in tough conditions.

Fundamentally, the Oreus jacket is one of the most versatile pieces of gear you can own, suitable for everything from super-alpine climbing in the high mountains to ski touring in the Alps, hiking in Scotland or rock climbing on high crags. They can be worn as an outer layer, as a super-warm mid-layer or most of all as a lightweight belay jacket or vest. Warmth, quick-drying performance, and a low pack size and weight are equally beneficial for almost any mountain activity.
