The Oreus Jacket is the result of a 5-year development project to create what we believe to be the best midweight synthetic product currently available. Limited by synthetic fills on the market, we set out to develop our own fabric fibers through heat-reflective fabric technology. The patent-pending Aetherm™ Precision Insulation, now exclusive to Mountain Equipment, is warmer than any other product of equivalent weight, as well as being more breathable and easier to pack.

The Oreus has already been tested extensively, with prototypes being used intensively everywhere from the Karakoram to Patagonia to the Alps, with rave reviews from our team of athletes, many of whom wear these products instead of lightweight down due to their warmth, functionality and increased resilience in tough conditions.

Fundamentally, the Oreus Jacket is one of the most versatile garments you can own, suitable for everything from super-alpine climbing in the high mountains to ski touring in the Alps, hill-hiking in Scotland or rock climbing on high crags. It can be worn as an outer layer, as a super-warm mid-layer or over it all as a lightweight belay jacket or vest. Warmth, quick-drying performance, low weight and packable size are equally beneficial for almost any activity in the mountains.
