"Zero Friends" Product Description

Approx. Weight 23 g (Zero 1)
Recommended Use High Mountaineering & Expeditions
The Wild Country micro cam range for climbing has changed the definition of small. Years of development, experience and infinite patience have gone into creating the smallest cam ever. The are 6 different sizes, the smallest (purple) will fit into an unbelieveably small 5.5 mm (0.22 inch) crack, opening up amazing possibilities. Color coded for easy use. Patented DIRECT LOADING AXLE allows cams down to a crack witdh of 5.5 mm (0.22 inches). Patented FLEXI-STEM system permits the most extreme cam placements. Patented GUIDED TRIGGER system allows trotal control of the cam head. Incredibly LIGHT WEIGHT, the Zero One weighs only 23 g. (0.81 oz) including sling, lighter tan a wire gate karabiner. SIX SIZES, Z1 trough Z6 are colour coded and include new exclusive 10 mm Dyneema double loop fast extending slings. The new Zeros are extremely flexible but flexibility is nothing without control and this new cams provide a positive directional control of the cams trough an innovative combination of flexible springs and guides which overlay the stainless steel wire rope stem. These prevent "bowing" as the trigger is retracted yet allow individual manipulation of the cams in restricted places.

STRENGTH: While every effort was made to make Zeros as strons as possible, the radical design limited the amount of strength that Wild Country could build into them, specially the smaller sizes. Zeros 1 and 2 which are rated as "Progression equipment" and cannot therefore be recommended for free climbing. However similar criteria are aplied to test small nuts for example RPs. Yet these are used extensively for free climbing and are essential components of any rack. Zeros 1 and 2 were designed primarily to extend an aid climbers rack but with a distinct nod to the free climber and it is quite clear taht they will perform the same role as the RPs descrived above.

Amazing little cam, rock solid, easy to place and retrieve even with the reduced range of such a small cam. Increadibly flexible, you can bend tham double. They are expensive.

Harder material than in Aliens, therefore more durable but not quite as sticky.
